Software Engineer (C/C++)

Remote or Saratov, Russia

General Arcade, a porting and co-development studio that worked with a wide range of clients from indies to AAA studios including 505, From Software, Capcom, Devolver Digital, Vlambeer, and others, is seeking a Software Engineer with enthusiasm for retro and classic video games. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a passionate engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, modify rendering pipeline, engine, and gameplay subsystems to produce ports and remasters of the classic/retro video games
  • Collaboration and co-development with team members and other engineers
  • Contributing to company best practices and guidelines

Required Skills

  • Strong background in C/C++
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math related field
  • Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Solid debugging/profiling skills
  • Strong math skills

Desired Skills (good to have)

  • Experience with popular game engines such as Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.
  • Experience writing shaders in HLSL, Cg or GLSL
  • Experience with 3D graphics APIs (OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan, etc)
  • Knowledge of CPU, GPU, and memory architectures
  • Passion for code and data optimization
  • Experience with mobile platforms (Android, iOS)
  • Experience with Linux or MacOSX development
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Familiarity with modern GPU/CPU performance analysis tools
  • Good English written communication skill
  • Passion for video games and computer graphics
