Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid is an open-ended zombie-infested sandbox. It asks one simple question — how will you die?
General Arcade’s involvement with Project Zomboid has been one of our longest-running engagements, spanning more than three years. Two Software Engineers and a QA Engineer worked closely with The Indie Stone on the game’s core technology, using Java, C++, and OpenGL to address cross-platform compatibility, performance, and multiplayer stability.
A key contribution was developing a custom Opus-based VoIP solution for in-game voice chat, built from the ground up to integrate with Project Zomboid’s multiplayer architecture. We also worked with RakNet for networking, helping ensure the game’s online experience remained stable as the player base grew significantly following its breakout success on Steam.
In the towns of Muldraugh and West Point, survivors must loot houses, build defences and do their utmost to delay their inevitable death day by day. No help is coming – their continued survival relies on their own cunning, luck and ability to evade a relentless horde.
